My Top Ten Tips
for a perfect Mothers Day session

A Mommy & Me session is a beautiful way to capture the connection you share with your child. These simple tips will help everything run smoothly so you can relax and enjoy the experience.
If any questions come up as your session approaches, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

1. Choose a Time That Works for Your Child
Schedule your session for a time of day when your child is typically well-rested and content. For younger children, this often means after a nap or feeding.

2. Coordinate Your Outfits
Simple, neutral clothing that coordinates (rather than matches) photographs beautifully and keeps the focus on connection. Soft tones work best, while bold patterns, logos, or graphics are best avoided.

3. Get a Good Night’s Rest
A well-rested child (and mom!) helps everyone feel their best going into the session.

4. Prepare Ahead of Time
Have outfits and any special items ready the day before your session. Planning ahead helps the day feel relaxed and stress-free.

5. Avoid Messy Treats
If you plan to bring a small treat for encouragement, please avoid anything that may stain lips or faces (such as chocolate or colored snacks). Clear or light-colored options are best.

6. Bring a Comfort Item
If your child has a favorite toy or blanket, feel free to bring it along. It can help soothe them and may even be included in a few images.

7. Hair, Nails & Makeup
You may wish to have hair, nails, or makeup done for your session. A natural, timeless look photographs beautifully and keeps the focus on your connection with your child.
8. Share Your Vision
If there are specific images or moments you’d love to capture, please feel free to share ahead of time so I can prepare accordingly.
9. Keep It Relaxed
Children can sense stress. A calm, positive environment helps create natural expressions and genuine moments.
10. Trust the Process
Little ones can be unpredictable, and that’s perfectly okay. I’ll guide the session so you can simply enjoy this time together.
+ Wardrobe Tip #1
Clothing that flows or moves gently often photographs beautifully — think soft fabrics like linen, cotton, or light knits. Avoid large logos, busy patterns, or bright colors that may distract from connection.
+ Wardrobe Tip#2
Bare feet or simple, neutral shoes work best. Socks look horrible. If you’re unsure about outfit choices, feel free to text me ahead of time — I’m always happy to help with styling.
