How it works

Maternity Photography Experience

North County San Diego | Studio & Outdoor Sessions

Step One:

Reserving You Session

A $200 non-refundable session fee is required to secure your maternity photography session.

Maternity portraits are best photographed between 32–34 weeks of pregnancy, when your belly is beautifully defined and you’re still feeling comfortable. For twins or multiples, sessions may be scheduled earlier.

Because maternity sessions are time-sensitive and scheduled around due dates, early booking is highly recommended to ensure availability.

Step Two:

Planning Your Session

Every maternity photography session begins with a personalized consultation to ensure your experience is seamless and custom from the very beginning.

You’ll receive a brief questionnaire covering your due date, comfort level, color palette, and how you’d like to display your maternity portraits and more. This allows me to thoughtfully plan your session and create imagery that feels timeless and elevated.

Studio visits are available by appointment.

Step Three:

Your Maternity Session

Sessions last approximately one - two hours and are relaxed, guided, and designed to flatter your body and celebrate this season of life. Family members are welcome and encouraged.

You may bring multiple outfits, choose from a selection of studio provided gowns, or select an artistic fabric-styled look created in-studio.  Simple poses along with flowing fabrics, movement, and gentle direction are used to create elegant, natural maternity portraits.

Step Four:

The Viewing & Ordering

Your images are carefully reviewed and lightly edited before your Viewing & Ordering Appointment, scheduled 1–2 weeks after your session.

This is where you’ll see your maternity portraits for the first time and select the images to be fully retouched. You’ll also choose from custom albums, fine-art prints, wall art, and heirloom products designed to last for generations.

Step Five:

Confirming Edits & Product Proofs

Once your selections are made, final retouching begins. You’ll receive digital proofs to review and approve, ensuring every image and product detail meets your expectations before going to print.

This step allows for peace of mind and guarantees your artwork is finished to the highest standard.

Step Six:

Delivery of Products & Art

Your finished maternity artwork is professionally produced and delivered with care. Whether to my Studio for pick up or right to your front door.

Installation guidance and care instructions are provided so your artwork looks beautiful from day one.

FAQ

When should I book my Maternity Session?

Maternity photography sessions are best scheduled between 28–34 weeks of pregnancy.

During this stage, your belly is beautifully defined, and you typically still feel comfortable enough to move naturally through poses. If you’re expecting twins or multiples, we may schedule your session a bit earlier depending on how you’re carrying.

How much should I expect to invest in professional maternity portraits?

Portrait collections vary based on your selections and artwork preferences.

Most clients invest between $600 and $2,400 on their maternity portrait collection. Options include full-resolution digital images, fine-art prints, wall art, and custom heirloom albums.

As a full-service maternity photography studio, I guide you through each option so you can choose artwork that fits both your home and your vision.

What should I wear for my Maternity Session?

You're welcome to bring multiple outfits, choose from a selection of studio-provided gowns, or select an artistic fabric-styled look created in-studio, or, depending on your comfort level, bare it all.

Jeans may not button at this point, but an open, folded, belly-baring pair with a crop top is always a popular choice.

Do you offer Prints and Albums?

Yes. I am a full-service photography studio, offering professionally printed and handcrafted products.

Your maternity portraits may be printed and framed, wrapped in canvas, or thoughtfully designed into a custom heirloom album—each created to be enjoyed for years to come.
